DAA President’s Update
An update from DAA President Julie Dundon to DAA members outlining the various initiatives the Association has been working on. This includes an update on the DAA Strategic Plan, health care reform and the upcoming International Congress of Dietetics.
Australia’s Healthy Weight Week
In late 2010, DAA and media partner Network Ten launched a brand new Community Service Announcement to promote Australia’s Healthy Weight Week. The new-look CSA features former iron man and fitness enthusiast Guy Leech, and is airing now on both Ten and One HD!
About APDs
In August 2007, DAA launched a national campaign encouraging Australians to take control of their health – with the help of an APD. The campaign, which kicked-off with a television Community Service Announcement (CSA), highlighted that APDs provide individual advice and support to help people eat healthier and feel better. This aimed to help tackle Australia’s obesity problem and the debilitating diseases (like type 2 diabetes and heart disease) that are related to overweight and obesity.
The CSA was developed by MWC Media and is based on DAA’s ‘Look no further’ print advertising campaign, which was developed by Sudler & Hennessey in 2006. DAA would like to thank DAA Program Partner, Kellogg Australia, for providing some additional funding towards developing the CSA.
Breakfast
In August 2003, DAA launched its first CSA to educate children, parents and carers on the importance of eating breakfast. Since then, it has received considerable support from media outlets across Australia. The CSA is proudly supported by DAA Program Partner, Kellogg Australia and television, print and radio versions have been developed.
Visit the Smart Eating for You section of the DAA website for more information and research findings on breakfast.
