Recipes

Dietitians recommend eating a wide variety of foods each day – that’s Smart Eating.

DAA has selected these Smart Eating recipes to help you enjoy healthy eating. The recipes are simple, quick, delicious and they’ve been tested so we know they work! The recipes are selected from those suggested by our members and partners.

Most of the recipes are for ‘everyday’ use and are consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Australians that encourage everyone to eat:

  • a wide variety of foods;
  • plenty of fruits and vegetables, bread and cereal products;
  • a diet low in saturated fat;
  • foods low in salt and to use salt sparingly; and
  • only moderate amounts of sugars, and foods and drinks containing added sugars.

There are sometimes recipes we recommend for use occasionally. Although these don’t meet all the guidelines, most are healthier modifications of popular dishes and we have included them because fun and tradition are an important part of healthy eating too.

Some recipes are described as suited to special uses because they are high or low in a particular component or nutrient, or they exclude something e.g gluten-free. These recipes meet DAA’s criteria for the substance concerned.
