Associate Membership
Associate membership is open to persons without dietetic qualifications who meet the eligibility requirements of DAA. A key requirement is that the course content is consistent with the evidence based paradigm of human nutrition science recognised by DAA.
Important note: Please be aware that Associate members are ineligible to join the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program and are not entitled to professional insurance packages that are available to full DAA members. Associate members are also unable to join the DAA Board, Branch Executive and some DAA advisory committees.
Eligibility
To be eligible you must meet one of the criteria.
Categories
- Associate Full – for persons who are employed.
- Associate Unemployed
- Associate Retired – for persons who are no longer working due to health or age reasons (over 55 years)
- Associate Student – for persons currently studying the options in criteria 1 and 2 (see criteria above).
For more details on these categories, see Membership Fees.
Applying for Associate Membership
DAA has developed a rigorous assessment system to ensure that associate members of DAA are appropriately qualified nutrition professionals. All associate membership applications are assessed by the DAA Associate Membership Assessment Advisory Committee and you should allow a minimum of six weeks for your application to be assessed. Further documentation on courses studied may be requested before a decision is made on an application. Associate members have been accepted from a variety of nutrition programs across Australia. See Membership FAQs.
