Development and review of the competency standards
The National Competency Standards for Entry Level Dietitians were originally published in 1993 by DAA. The original development was funded by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition and the Commonwealth Department of Employment, Education and Training.
The National Competency Standards were reviewed in 1998 and again in 2005 to reflect changes in dietetic practice. A major revision of the Standards took place in 2008, with funding support from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. The current edition (released in 2009/reprinted in 2010) encompasses mental health competencies and current dietetic practice issues.
