Overseas residents studying dietetics in Australia

If you have successfully completed an accredited Nutrition and Dietetics course in Australia but are a permanent resident of another country you may apply to DAA for an Assessment of Dietetic Qualifications and Skills for Migration Purposes document. You will not be required to sit the Professional Examinations in Dietetics.

Assessment can take up to six (6) weeks from the time your application is received. Download and complete an Application for Assessment Form. Return this form with the appropriate fee (cheque or money order, payable to DAA) and supporting documentation to the DAA National Office.

As part of the assessment you must meet the educational requirements for English language, which requires that applicants have completed an accredited dietetics degree in Australia within the two years prior to application. If you do not meet this criteria, you will need to successfully pass one of the two English Language Proficiency tests.

The standards and processes for assessment and recognition of dietetic qualifications are established and maintained by the Australian Dietetics Council (ADC), an external governing body that ensures DAA is delivering an efficient, effective and equitable dietetic skills assessment service that supports the operations of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s Skilled Migration Programs.
